Once upon a time I had my r3 working perfectly on win 8 preview,
then max payne came out and it wouldn't run on windows 8 so I went back to windows 7..
then I got so busy being the emergency resident on one of the busiest highways here in Egypt ..
I installed ssd and upgraded my ram but kept everything like it is till I realized my fan is broken and it cost me a monthly salary to get it here :(

then I decided to do clean install of windows 8 and it would crash when installing the ATI just non responsive white screen while installing display driver, I tried every way mentioned here ..
    different driver
    disable driver signature
    safe mode

even if I disabled intel graphics from unlocked bios the computer wouldn't post or stop beeping ..

please help what should I do to get me 6990 to work on windows 8 ??!!

I had the exact same problem. I had my r3 running great with Windows 8 then I stuck a ssd in and did clean install. I could not get the drivers to install properly and it would not recognize my 6990, so I said screw it and just left it with windows 7 for now. After 5 clean installs I was running out of patience.

The R3 is not in the compatibility list for Windows 8, it might be that.

I tried the stock driver on the disc
and the ones from dell website
    and different versions from amd
    even the modded one ..

each and every time goes to white screen when installing the display driver ..

and what is worrying me is that when I try to disable the IGP from bios it won't boot just beeps and I have to reset it with the battery removed

although the card shows on device manager and on bios
