i'm about to repaste my CPU and GPU with IC-7 and have questions about thermal pads
What thickness? 0.5mm? 1.0mm? greater than 1.0mm? (this is for the ram)...i have read the repaste guide by DaneGRClose who used .5mm...but then i read another forum where they had used 0.5mm but removed it cause the ram was overheating and causing system instability
Is Thermal Conductivity 3.2w/m-K sufficient? 3.2w seems to be easily attainable on ebay. I have seen 12w and 6w but the price gets silly.
EDIT: Nevermind, i repasted but reused the stock pads for now.

I used .5 mm pads as per DaneGRClose's guide. However, some of the pads in the recessed area of the heatsink that he said to replace which sit over some of the GPU components (not the RAM) are much thicker. The areas contacting the RAM only need a single layer of .5 mm to get contact; it's what was on there before.
I just stacked multiple layers of .5 mm fujipoly in the recessed area where the old pads were until I was sure I had good contact throughout. If I did it again, I would ideally have a range of thicknesses from .5 mm to 2.0 mm, but I don't think there is really much negative impact to thermal conductivity in stacking thin pads vs using a thicker pad. It all just bonds together. -

Overall, just repasting and reusing the stock pads, my load temps on the GPU have dropped 8-10 degrees. So i'm quite happy with the results.
