i think your configuration is quite fine going by the temperatures
i would not disturb these temps, unless you are sure you can get them lower(havent seen better temps than that, unless you live in -30C, then definitely do it :p )
    and experienced at repasting

i would personally suggest cooler master xtreme fusion x1, very satisfied with it
was the second best after a compound from gelid, saw the review on tomshardware

most users would suggest IC diamond or arctic mx4/5

A repaste would definitely help a bit. Pastes I would recommend are IC Diamond (personal favourite) Prolimatech PK-1/2/3 and Gelid GC Extreme. All would serve you well. IC Diamond is good but may scratch your heatsink and die but in my tests performs consistently each time.

I tried Shin Etsu 3 different times, too much of a pain in the for the benefits to get it to paste correctly. Now using Arctic Silver 5 again, pasted using a small piece of flat cardboard and brushed on a nice thin layer, installed heatsink, pulled it off, checked how it sat on the copper base of the heatsink, looked good so pushed any that spreaded to the sides, back into the middle and made a nice thin layer on their, and reinstalled. Best temps I've ever had, 35-38c idle, and 39c browsing the web right now currently.

you can be sure that will void youre guaranty.
most likely ram and hdd upgrades wont void it.

As long as the work was performed in a professional manner, and nothing was broken, it should not void your warranty. That being said, stock TIM isn't that horrible, I'm not sure what Dell uses, but I remember receiving thermal paste from HP, and it was some OEM tube of Shin Etsu thermal paste. Personally, I don't think your temperatures are horrible, my old 5870M's and 920XM would easily hit 70-80C and 90C on max load..

The Alienware reps have stated here that successfully repasting does not void your warranty.

Have you considered picking up a cooling pad to help offset the heat? My temps are not that high at all but my 17 sits on a cooler master u3 with the fans pumping air up through the bottom 24/7.

Where do you live Velislide, maybe come do my system too!
I repasted and got nothing close to 35-38c idle. My idle is around 45-52c which I thought was good and at peak reaches high of 74c
My GPU on the other hand idles at 46c and will peak in the mid to high 80's after 2-3 hours of gaming. Its better than the low to mid 90's before I repasted though but still nowhere as low as your stats.

Yeah, my alienware stands on a cooler master u3 pad....but still the same now I have browsing aroung 55 C ...I spoked with a laidy from Dell and she told me that they recomand to clean and also repaste the cpu and gpu if needed once at 3 months...and that the guaranty is for the parts not for the sistem because I dont have a seald box...I have guaranty only for the parts. I will make a clean and repaste...just want to know witch is the best thermal paste?

Are you out of warranty? You should have a full warranty on parts and labor for the duration of the warranty.

Honestly the difference between all the thermal pastes is very little (Arctic Silver 5, MX-3/4, IC Diamond, etc). What's more important is how it is applied and how evenly its spread to ensure proper cooling. Even with the "best" thermal paste, if it's applied wrong, it can have adverse affects on the cooling. You only need about a raindrop/grain of rice for your CPU.

You should totally repaste yourself. There is no harm. And as pointed out all the top Paste's are so close to performance you cant really pick one.

Just be sure to apply it the right way.

Just be sure you dont use too much paste. Just make a line on the gpu die and put the heatsing on it, try to rotate it a little left and right 3x and screw it back on. in order 1-2-3-4. turn each screw a little each time till they are all tightened. Good luck!

that sounds about right to me. my 680M on BF4 touches 75 max, it also sits on a cooling pad all the time and has clear vents for good circulation of air
