I'm waitting for another m17x replacement system, says shipped so wont be long.

Problem is I have had enough, sick of it and at the end of the line.

    faulty from dell, inspiron 9100,9400,e1705, 2x xps m1710, xps 1730, 2x m17 and m17x r2!

and top of the line Alienware Area51 ALX desktop, 2 motherboards, 1 thermal controler board, 2 replacement fans and a liquid cooling unit.

thinking of just leaving it in the box un opened and sell it on ebay

any body know what the system is worth on ebay

m17x r2, 920 i7, 4gb ram, 250gb HD, 4870 crossfire. blueray burner and rgb screen. win7 ultimate, and 2 years complete care accidental damage with 5 years NBD warranty

might just go buy a Mac

well I have had lousy luck with the XPS and latitudes as well, good luck with the older inspirons and been good with my AW M17X.

as for mac ... had the worst luck with them as I keep having to go back to the bloody Apple store or send them off for the damndest things.

looking at your username and website im assuming you use it for photoshop etc, go look at a Dell or HP or lenovo workstation.

wife is a hardcore photoshop/cad/cam type individual and I can try to give a few pointers if the M17X dont work out

Go for it. Macs are awesome, you will love it.

Don't let Alienware continue to play you for a fool. Dell has the worst customer support I have ever experienced. It doesn't help that Alienware products seem generally faulty. And when they work, they don't even work correctly (see 5870 Crossfire Drive issue up top).

    Don't look back.

I feel ya regarding the M17xR2, I've returned everyone I've purchased but that is the great thing about Dell. I couldn't just do that with the G73 when I bought it. I feel more comfortable buying from Dell because satisfaction is guaranteed.

Regarding your price check post it here:

Right, sure, why not? The systems are totally comparable...

That being said, Dell seems to be running fairly shady these days in terms of quality of parts(but not CS).. imo Michael Dell should resign in lure of the optiplex scandal.

buying and selling goes in the marketplace not in the main forums
