    Isn't there a way to force custom resolutions in the older WoW games? I swear I saw a forum on writing custom lines/commands to force resolutions that weren't originally supported.

    This isn't my guide so credit goes to the original author Fredrik Olsson.

    "Here is a guide to setup War3 in Widescreen for Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP:

    1) Make sure the resolution you want to run is supported by your graphics drivers.
    If you can select a resolution in your Operating System, then it is supported. If the resolution doesn't exist, read our guide on how to configure custom resolutions in windows.

    2) Backup your registry, in case something goes wrong.
    START > Run > regedit > file > export

    3) Change Warcraft 3's resolution manually.
    START > run > regedit

    While in the Windows Registry Editor (regedit), locate:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Blizzard Entertainment > Warcraft III > Video

    4) Make below change in decimal format:
    (Right click > Change > select "decimal" > fill in new value)
    resheight = 1600
    reswidth = 900

    Replace width & height with whatever resolution you wanna play in, examples:
    Common TV screen resolutions
    1280x720 16:9 Widescreen
    1365x768 16:9 Widescreen
    1920x1080 16:9 Widescreen
    19" monitors:
    1600x900 16:9 Widescreen
    1680x1050 16:10 Widescreen
    20"-24" monitors:
    1920x1200 16:10 Widescreen
    1920x1080 16:9 Widescreen
    30" monitors
    2560x1600 16:10 Widescreen
    4:3 monitors:
    1600x1200 4:3
    Smaller resolutions for better framerate
    852x480 16:9 Widescreen
    1440x900 16:10 Widescreen
    320x240 4:3 Aspect ratio"

    This might be like the Broodwar glitch/wacko screen color (it inverts colors) when played in Vista or win7. To solve it, you would right click your desktop, and open the resolution tab, and leave that window open. Then you start up SC and then voila it mysteriously works. Try it for WC3. Otherwise, it might just be something wrong with WC3 and compatibility on Windows7. Try googling, cuz it might not just be yours.

    no idea, i mean theoretically it should since its the same construction more or less as wc3...

    click start > search for "run" > in the line, type as one word: regedit

    then follow these instructions:

    Remember, once you change the value in the registry, DO NOT try to change it again under Video setting. It will still show the minimum resolution (640x480) but just let it be like that.

    For SC and expansion, kill explorer.exe and then run SC, and then reload explorer after your done playing. I have made a batch file that does this for me.

    @echo off
    taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
    start (what ever program you want) (FULL path) ie. c:\program files(x86)\Blizzard\Starcraft\SC.EXE or whatever its called..
    start explorer.exe

    Call the batch SC.bat or whatever you want and your good to go. Only problem is, the volume control being digital and controlled by Windows, make sure you have a little volume ON before you run this.. If too loud, control it in game after..

    This batch is off the top of my head. I'll check it once my kids are off, but if it works, great. if not, I'll get the batch on the lappy. kids are on it now and good luck getting them off. :)
