Star Wars Galaxies... old school I know, this system is probably more than overkill for it even though they did finally raise the FPS cap to 60.
But what about Star Wars:Knights Of The Old Republic Online??? I know many are testing it out right now... and those that are probably can't comment on it... but with their setup and my setup or even for the basic m17x... how do you expect them to perform?
Intel Core i7 740QM Quad Core, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache)
8GB Dual Channel Memory (2x 4GB DDR3)
17-inch WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 (900p)
CrossfireX 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5870
640GB Raid 0 (2x 320GB 7,200RPM HDDs)
Genuine Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit, English
Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 6300 a/g/n 3x3 MIMO Technology
Thoughts? Discuss. Sorry... just going nuts waiting for my m17x to get here and very anxious to get back into the gaming scene.

Hi I played Star Wars Galaxies for 2 years on an alienware, older model. Sweet machine, it will be awesome Im sure. Here is what is speculated by an anonomous forumer for star wars: the old republic.

Nice, thanks for the info... I had been doing some reading on it in other forums. They're trying to make it run on the most basic platforms... the above you posted seems like pretty much the going systems even at cheaper retailers.
The hardware/software has been around awhile now to take the load off the gamers where the company takes the load so that as long as you have a decent internet connection - you should be fine. We'll see what happens.
My m15x ran SWG pretty well... it was a first gen. I stepped out of gaming for awhile while working on my house and before I could get back into it - my m15x was destroyed. Bah! Looking forward to trying it out with the 60fps available now. It was long overdo for them to update their systems. I've played SWG since launch with only a couple small breaks in that time... I'm deff one that would be considered by most as a "SWG pre-nge fanboi crybaby!" LOL... but I've still stuck around simply because I'm a huge SW fanatic. -
yea my two years I played were pre-nge and actually the time I stoped playing ended up being 5 days after the nge actually went into effect lol. m15x destroyed? Seems alienwares have this fate alot of the times from some way or another. The alien sence is week in are forces. Best site to look for SWTOR is at mmorpg.com .
Still playing SWG after all this time? Thats pritty amazing. I moved to wow after the nge, wow was great back then. Guild wars 2 will go nicely with SWTOR you can rest assured on that. I think the best way to enjoy a really great mmo is to compliment it with another mmo lol. -

LOL, I was waiting for an instant flame when I mentioned the Pre-NGE thing! Yeah, my m15x was smashed literally a month after my warranty expired. It seriously took alot out of this grown man to not cry, lol... I didn't think I could ever afford another one - still not sure I can! But took the plunge anyways.
As for the MMO's... I've tried playing multiple games at once, but first and foremost it has to be in a universe that I've already been introduced to. I never even tried Wow... I looked up the storyling, and though it was ok in my opinion - it just didn't grab me. I tried Lord Of The Rings, and it was good for the first couple months - I even helped do some early Beta testing for that one.... eventually I got bored with it. Too linear. Thats the only thing that worries me about KOTR... and the biggest thing I miss about SWG. I really miss the huge sandboxes and endless areas to grow and learn. I tried Stargate Worlds for awhile doing some Beta testing... not sure I'm allowed to say that yet since it's not out - but it's like it just died or something.
I'll probably stick with SWG until they close all the servers... it's still got a decent number of players. Still lots of noobs all the time.... they just leave once they fullfill their level max and the basic story lines. Obviously no where near the ground breaking records they had in the begining. I just can't let go of the endless Jedi grind I went through on more than one occasions. I was on the verge everytime they changed it and had to start over... finally got it near the end of NGE.
Anyways, I'm rambling... thanks again for the info - I'll check out the site. -
Well mmorpg can be cruel, so be for warned. As with many forums a lot of what is posted on there is pretty bias and can hurt alot...lol, If I was to compare this and mmorpg which I used to read everday this site probubly is popular mechanics/national geographic compared to star/shopper lol. Thats not a very good comparison but its the feeling I get, Im kinda pissed to though that they deleted my signiture to (cries).
The old SWG is soon to go live in the form of truegalaxies/SWG:ANH though If you havent heared about that or SWGemu I think already has one up, its pre-nge servers of course. yea...SWG was my favorite game I ever played including wow and aion, really isnt all that much to compare to yet, and everquest. Im huge mmorpg fan.
Star Gate worlds, thats totally interesting. Cheyene mountain entertainment went bankrupt and actually had law suites to deal with in court cause of the owner having ponzi sqemes and other things lol. I really wanted that game too, was kinda suprized with all the star gate worlds stuff that they couldnt genereate enough money to get that off the ground. Seriously they had enough to go threw like a bajillion seasons of star gate this and that. -

yeah, that was one of the first things I posted on was Stargate... forum name is "Mavericke".
I've heard of the SWGemu... logged on and it just didn't give me the same feel for some reason. Curious about the other one you mentioned though. -
I just installed SWG onto my m17x, gone back to it after a break of about a year, but to be honest I've only been playing on and off sinc the NGE. I started playing during Beta 3 (waited a whole year between when I applied for the beta and when I actually got accepted). I've got an enormous amount of great memories and nostalgia with this game, I still remember Durni's falling from the sky during Beta, to crafting my first set of bone armour, to that horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach after spending an hour in the CU beta!
These days I think they've brought back alot of good stuff and the game is in a really good place, I think its just the comradery that doesn't keep me playing like I used to, not alot of friends playing it anymore, and everytime I take a few month hiatus I came back alone, and without people to stick close to and play with it gets hard to want to log on.
Population on Starsider is fantastic, Pre-CU levels I would say. What toon/server are you on? I'm on Starsider as Setaoc/Idajoo. -

I'm on Chilastra... also known as Mavericke.
I agree... my brother and I ran the second largest guild on the server for awhile for the rebellion. When life would get in the way, things would crumble... I kept the guild running even with few numbers up until last year when cancer knocked me out for awhile. (clean bail of health now fyi! I kicked cancer's !) But yeah man, I'm looking forward to trying it out again for awhile. 2 accounts and five level 90 toons on one server... hard to leave especially since being there in the begining. The ol'days when you'd play all night until the servers shut down at 6am, LOL!
Thoughts on m17x SWG and/or KOTOR performances...
