Hey everyone. I recently just purchased a 920xm processor to replace my 820qm and was looking to moderately overclock it using throttlestop. I've tried searching for guides on how to accomplish this and came away somewhat confused and overwhelmed. I was wanting to know if anyone had some general settings they have used that they can share with me so I don't have to go through the hassles of fiddling around with settings I shouldn't be messing with. Thanks for the help! :)

Thanks for the link fling. I just glanced over it and will look over it in more detail tomorrow. Would any of you know where I would find a step-by-step guide on how to use throttlestop? My main concern is messing with variables that I wouldn't need to play with to achieve decent results. Like I said before, I'm looking for moderate results. Nothing pushing the limits of my system.

85w TDP 25X multi. Depends on your temps you may want to go higher or lower on the TDP. Run wPrime 1024 8 threads and monitor your temps. If they get over 92-93* turn down your TDP.

Yea. I leave every thing as is unless Im benchmarking. Run vantage or 3dmark06 and you should see a nice improvement.

I'm running the same settings as DR650 and was hitting about 94C in the 1024 ThrottleStop benchmark, even after a repaste and cleanout.

I took off the keyboard and ran the test, then loosened the screws holding down the heatsink just the tiniest bit and re-ran the test to see if it was the overtightened screws that was making my temps so high. Turned out it was.

Since then I haven't seen over 82C when running the benchmark. :)
So if you are getting higher temps, make sure that your screws aren't too tight!

Once the heat sink is adjusted properly you can increase the wattage for more turbo boost. I adjust mine till my temp hits 90*C. Nothing will stress the cpu like wprime 8 threads.

Last question. What boxes should be checked off? Clock modulation? Chipset clock mod? Set Multiplier? Etc..

All three. And set the Set Multiplier variable to Turbo (one click above the highest numerical selection).
