    Hi All!

I'll try to cut a long one short, I had a tell Dell tech come out many many months ago and replace my keyboard under warranty. Because my M17x basically lives on my desk I didn't notice that he had forgotten/wasn't able to screw the palmrest assembley back in place due to him not lining everything up properly.

While I was at a LAN in Singapore the entire palmrest "popped" out of place resulting in damage the plug on the touchpad and litterally burnt out the ribbon cable. (The touchpad had been cutting in and out after the tech had replaced the keyboard)

Because I was out of the country when it happened and only had 60 days warranty (Dell Outlet Australia plus I was too poor to extend the warranty at the time) I wasnt able to get it sorted until I got back home.

I'm now at the point where I want to get my system re-certified and have made a bunch of calls and emails only to be told im looking at nearly AU$200 for a replacement palmrest and touchpad ribbon cable. (I've explained the senario to Dell)

I've hunted high and low on the internet for the ribbon cable, emailed all the Alienware m17x "wreckers" I can find none of whom have the cable...

Is anyone here able to help?

    Cheers in advance,

    Steve

Well, that should come with the ribbon cable :)

Check with them first to confirm.

If you are in a pinch and cant locate just the cable, that might be a quick fix.

Thanks once again Bat, I think I have contacted them before but just to be sure have fired them off another e-mail. I need both the cable and touchpad so it would a bonus if it does come with. Dell here for some reason will not sell me just the ribbon cable, they say the part number is not in the database so all they can do is order the palmrest/touchpad and list on the notes to include the ribbon cable :S
