Is there anyway to fix this? As soon as I plug a mouse in the trackpad light goes off this is a M17x R2 did not have this problem with my R1.

Yeh I get the same thing. Its the Synaptics mouse driver disabling the track pad when you plug in another mouse. You can hit the Fn+ F12 key to get the light back on if you like or you will just have to uninstall the synaptics mouse driver then that will fix it as well.

    Cheers. :)

I think there's an option in the alienware command center to change that.

You hit the nail on the head there. Unfortunately there's no way to disable the touchpad and leave the touchpad light on. The two are linked so that touchpad goes off, so does light. Its how you know the touchpad is really off.
