I had to open my M17x laptop to clean the Gpus. I do this every few Months. A few tricks I learn was follow the Dell Server manual. But one thing I do not use is a flat head screwdriver buy a 6" Stainless-Steel Ruler (Westcoot). You can get at staples. Very thin like you would find from eye glass repair kit screwdriver and 3/4 inch wide so it dose not leave marks and fit between the side of Control cover and case with no force.

    Greetings AtolSammeek and Aikimox,
The controller cover can easily be removed my pulling up on one of the hinge covers. This is most easily done with the left hinge cover, as it tends to be molded slightly higher than the right. Please do no pry on this cover, as it will on lead to either A. Breaking the Cover, or B. Leaving small scractches or indents on it.

Edit: Please do not forget to remove the two screws beneath the bottom panel first!

    Thanks,
    Gabe

Yes, yet not on every system this can be done easily.
I had 3 M17X machines and all three had different issues with the touch panel, one was especially tight and difficult to remove.
After that I decided to sand the clips a little and it worked like a charm.
