Alrighty... So, working in safe mode because my machine refuses to boot up properly.

Here's a breakdown of what happened.

As usual it seemed, my keyboard just stopped working properly and a few of the more important keys (WASD) slowly stop working. On the first keyboard, this happened to the A key and I got that replaced without an issue, the keyboard that is.

Second keyboard comes in, works fine for around four months and then the S key starts sticking... growing a bit more obvious as time went on. Eventually it just died. I was okay with this since most of my games can be changed around to work with this. However, then my D key started to die and that was it for me. Got an external and rockin' that right now.

That's where this problem comes in. I got a third keyboard, this one was brand new and it looks like it, but once I installed it two things happened.

First, the power adapter isn't recognized.

Second, the A key doesn't work, but the Q and W keys don't display the correct symbol when pressed. If you pressed Q it would type an A, and if you pressed W it would insert the minus sign (-), rendering this component completely useless.

Obviously frustrated by this point, I installed the old keyboard to find that one of the zones doesn't turn on for the backlight. However my power adapter is working again, so that's good... only... it doesn't boot to the main screen now. And here I am typing to you all, in "safe mode", on a machine that's probably about to die.

Anyone have any ideas as to the problem? (I did the power purge thingy. Hold down power button for 20 seconds, unplugged and battery removed. No change.)

    EDIT:

    Here's where I got the keyboard: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271223138453?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

    Well,
MOBO could be a cause, or you could have an OS issue, either way it sounds like it is time for a fresh boot of the OS... If that does not cure the problem... you might have bigger issues. gl

Hey man, that sounds like a real trial!

Just gonna throw a few guesses in (apart from an obvious observation - are you a little heavy on keyboards ;) ?). Could be the ribbon cable is bad and each time you remove it and put it back it gives a different signal? The PSU could have been an assembly problem that got fixed as you swapped parts?

What happens when booting normally, BSOD?

Well... I managed to get it to boot normally and it's semi stable it seems.

However it's still troubling as my power adapter doesn't charge, or even get recongized, if the new keyboard is in...

Also, is there a way to calibrate a keyboard to test and re-organize the keys? I mean... is there a way to fix that so A types an A and so on?

Nothing I am aware of. The KB is not controlled by any software or firmware it's all in hardware and goes back to the days of the first PC's!

If you are sure the cable is OK then the MB is now coming into the frame, especially with the PSU issue as well :(

I guess you are out of warranty?

The charging issues could be fixed with this.
