If this is in the wrong place I apologize in advance, but I'm stuck with an issue. I use several game development programs, they are the main reason why I bought this laptop, one of which is UDK (udk.com) The issue I'm having is the editor runs very slow, like 5-15 fps, but when I play the game I get 45-60 fps. I have a hunch that UDK is using the 9400m graphic card instead of the Crossfire 5870's. I believe this is true because My Macbook Pro 13" has the 9400m in it and runs at the same speed!
So my question is, is there any way to force and app to use the 5870's or is there a way to shut down the 9400m all together, I'm always plugged in and the only reason I keep the battery in is in case the power cord gets pulled out on accident. I've read somewhere that there is a way to turn off the 9400m in the bios but I wasn't able to find it (using A07).
Any help would be great as I am losing time with this problem.
Thanks a bunch,
-Mike

This might screw things up, but you can try disabling it in Device Manager.

If you have 5870s, you have an R2. If you have an R2, you don't have the integrated 9400. That's why you can't find it in the BIOS. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, please.

I haven't got any idea. Sorry. I am not familiar with this editor, or what kind of 'horsepower' is required to run it. If the game is running at an acceptable framerate, I can only assume the editor is more intensive, or is coded to run at a low framerate.

Try disabling crossfire and relaunching. Any difference?

Is it possible it's a hardware issue? I lean towards no but I do feel my GPU's underperform at everything like Crysis, SC2, BF:BC2 etc...

Is there a settings window to choose how the viewport is rendered? (like 3ds max for example).
If there is, set it to directx maybe?

UDK = Unreal Engine 3. Used to create games like Gears of War, Batman Arkham Asylum, Unreal tournament 3, etc so I believe it's using DirectX. But I can't say I'm 100%.
I think I might try upgrading the drivers again.
If you have any suggestions let me know, I need this to work or I need to find a new laptop.

UDK using 9400m.
