Hi all, I'm in a bad spot right now posting with safe mode as I wiped my driver (12.3) on my M17x R3 as it was suffering from performance issues.

After I wiped and rebooted I get the blue screen of death and cannot boot into normal windows. When I tried to download the latest driver and install, I get an error message saying "Failure to load detection driver", I have a 6970m with Intel HD3000. Please help me fix my computer!!

    List of drivers downloaded/tried:
    - 6970m driver straight from Dell's website which should be compatible
    - 7970m driver from Dell's website although this one is for M17x R4 but I thought I'll try it
    - Got the latest driver 12.X from one of the forum members here

All three result in the same error message and I cannot put a driver back onto my comp, please help! Thanks a lot in advanced

ok calm down have you tried doing a clean install by using this guide How to: Remove your Nvidia GPU Drivers. i know it says nvidia but the same applys to amd cards have you tried using these programs to clean your computer

CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Driver Fusion - The Complete Driver Solution

when using these programs only select the card manufacture for example in driver fusion you would select amd and with ccleaner select the registry. the first link i give you will do the same thing as these programs but you will have to do it manually.

we will get this fixed trust me i have had the exact same problems before.

if any files are left behind they can cause major problems trying to install drivers those tools will fix that problem

I believe my issues have gone beyond just driver issue. Really regret trying to update right now because I think the hard shutdowns/resets have messed up my SSD. It is so slow and none of the games will open right now. I ran a benchmark with an old SSD program I downloaded when I first got my computer and the results have confirmed my worst nightmare. Using a program called AS SSD Benchmark, don't know why I cannot set it to English as it's stuck to Deutsch =_="

Seq: 237.91 MB/S (Lesen) and 23.96 MB/s (Schreiben). I can only assume read/write speeds but I don't know which is which. The 23.96mb speed started at 200mb/s + then just gradually dropped, what is going on..

    4k: 11.18mb/s, 29.49mb/s
    4k-64Thrd: 122.86mb/s, 67.22mb/s
    Zugriffszeit: 0.337ms/0.085ms
    Score: 158/99, 331

I have ran this benchmark before and both read and write should be around 240mb/s as this is a Samsung 870 SSD if my memory serves correctly.

I have the display running now, barely.. but my SSD is ****ing messed up. What happened... do I need to deal with Dell to ask for a replacement?? I don't understand how doing simple graphic driver installs can messed up my SSD like this

ok how long have you had the SSD because over time SSD will get less efficient and slower this is common do you have another HDD in your system

Had the system for about a year now, the SSD came with the m17x everything is stock, 256gb samsung. All parts are stock CPU/GPU/SSD/RAM and it's the only drive installed. When I first got it I tested it and it gave 240mb/s read and write. It was extremely fast this whole time. For example it only takes like 15 seconds from turn on to windows fully loaded. After I try to update drivers today it slowed down immensely during start up. I had to wait close to 2 minutes before the windows 7 welcome screen will fade, then after that I had to wait another 10 seconds of black screen or so before windows become usable. I don't know why performance degraded so much in a matter of hours.

Bios I haven't touch for awhile so I think I'm on A08, didn't use modded bios no nothing.

I got this system as a refurbished unit but it has warranty until 2014.

P.S Just checked the model of the SSD, it's a Samsung PM810 256GB. Power on count is 938, power on hour is 2614.

Ok could check the bios to see if you graphics card is coming and being reconised and check the device manager to see if your gpu is showing up because I think it might be your motherboard I would phone dell on Monday I believe there open from 8am to 8pm but I really think it could be a hardware issue. Have you tried an reinstall of windows at this point I don't know what the issue is

Btw am typing this on a phone am not in my house
