Today I got a new SSD and installed it into my m17x r4 with 7970m and installed all the drivers including the latest amd beta drive. I then did fn+f7 to switch to amd 7970m completely and turned it off turned it back on and it worked.

I then left and turned it off and came back 2 hours later to turn it on when all of a suddent I just get a black screen and i hear about 8 loud BEEPS.

Can someone please help me out with this problem ASAP PLEASE?? I just got my laptop first week of May and now this is happening...

    *UPDATE*

I removed the 7970m gpu and turned on it and it worked fine. I then dis fn+f7 and switched the graphics again and then shut down. I then installed the 7970m back in and booted and it works again, but now the 7970m isnt detected anymore.

    Help please!

8 beeps stand for LCD or gpu failure, try to remove dedicated gpu and see if pc is working

Try re-seating GPU. I would recommend do not remove the heat sink, you can remove gpu with heat sink installed.

Also remember, 7970 is very easy to damage if your not grounded properly.

Everytime I boot up my laptop after several hours of not using it, the 7970m GPU isnt detected. But when I shut down and turn it back on, the 7970m is detected again?

    Daily Routine:
    1. Turn on laptop after several hours of it being off
    2. ATI GFX not detected
    3. Shut down after it has fully booted up.
    4. Turn on the laptop again
    5. ATI GFX is detected and working again
