    Alienware M17x R2 system with Windows 7.

Never had any issues but recently I noticed that ports on the left side (When I am facing towards the screen) dont work anymore.

There is no error on connecting any device, it just doesnt get recognised at all. Unfortunatley my system has just gone out of warranty so not sure if it'll be covered under warranty.

I've already checked power options and power saving is disabled. What can I do to identify it USB ports are gone or something else is wrong?

    Cheers

In Device Manager it should show the power output. But in theory the laptop should have lasted longer in my opinion you should get them to replace the mobo or they might have a trouble shooting page.

The ports appear to work for USB cam but not for mobile phone? It doesnt even recognize external hard disks or mobile phone. Does it mean there is a voltage problem?
    Thanks

Try re-downloading/installing your chipset drivers, it might help. Also check your bios settings under the i/o options and see if you have them disabled or changed to power only. I get laptops in my shop all the time for the bios problem.
