First of all sorry for my bad English !

Hello, it's going to be almost a year that I can't use this setting, please help me giving steps by steps because articles is just too hard to understand. I would like to use this setting (Boot list option=UEFI), (Load legacy option Rom = Disable) and (Secure boot = Enable) because this was the default setting when I bought this laptop.

But now i'm stuck with legacy mode because I did a reformat my laptop and messed up the setting and now my windows 8 is installed on legacy and when I tried to use this settings Boot list option=UEFI and Secure boot= Enable and Load Legacy option Rom = Disable it says Checking media... and few seconds later No boot image/device found. Press any key to restart, I can't recall actual error message.

This is my current bios setting Load Legacy option Rom = Enable, Boot list option=UEFI and Secure boot = greyed out disable. The only thing i'm trying to change is Load legacy to disable, to make the secure boot not to be greyed out and set secure boot to enable..... this is when i get the error.

If I disable Load Legacy Option Rom then I press f12 on boot to install/boot from my windows 8 cd it only give me IPv4 Onboard option which has no fuction when I press on it and the other option is Enter setup or Diagnostics, between my hard disk is at MBR and some people say to run in secure boot, need to install windows in GPT formated hard disk. Here is the example of video took from youtube and it's not mine

This is what I currently get on boot screen
Alienware M17x R4- SSD crucial M4 fast boot - YouTube

This is what I want it to look like/use the default boot that comes when purchase
Alienware M17X R4 UEFI Secure Boot - YouTube

Please do help me I would really appreciate your help. Thanks :)

This was said by Mr. Fox:
    (UEFI) Are garbage
I do not use Secure Boot, Fast Boot, and never plan to use them for ethical reasons. Those support restrictive technologies that I feel are morally reprehensible, give the OEMs way more control than they are entitled to have, and interfere with end user customization.

    Use this guide http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...questions-discussions-here-8.html#post8974490

Format your existing windows, ideally in your BIOS you should have secure boot turned off and boot to UEFI. Secure boot is something you dont want and microslop is forcing on you

Basically, you installed with legacy boot enabled, for UEFI to work you should have installed windows 8 with legacy support off.

Easiest way to get it working is reinstall windows, you don't need to enable fast boot and secure boot, they get enabled after windows 8 has installed.

And dont worry about file format, if you install windows this way, it will format the hard drive in the correct format it self.

Yes I understand that but if I disable legacy load option rom then when I boot and press f12 I don't have CD-Rom, Hard disk and usb boot menu there I only gets option in boot menu is the IPv4 Onboard. What that suppose to mean? Should I reformat my pen drive with UEFI support and put my windows 8 file in USB and it will auto detect? I'm not sure about that.

Your USB needs to have the UEFI drivers on it. It should be there if you create the media using the Windows 7 USB DVD Download tool to create the USB, it should make it UEFI compatible. Microsoft Store

If nothing else is working just burn a DVD. You have a R4.

You mean the hard disk I will install on will auto turn into GPT? My current windows 8 installed on MBR format hard disk.

Thanks for the suggestion if I'm not mistaken you mean the USB needs to have the UEFI driver on it, is that I need to download a separate driver or I can use this instead of the of the Windows 7 USB DVD download tool. And how will I be able to boot from the boot menu if there is no USB list on it so it will auto detect the usb on boot up or I need to choose that one option by pressing F12 that is IPv4 Onboard, actually what is this IPv4 Onboard mind explaning it?

Google is your best friend buddy, look up some of the stuff. How to install windows is not a uncommon thing. If i am not wrong the install process will ask you to format the HDD and if your doing it right it should do the correct format for the UEFI.

When you put in the USB it should auto detect the USB unless you have it disabled in the BIOS.

Try this and take screenshots of whats the problem then post it here.
