Well, shucks. It seems that during an install of Windows 7, I formatted the Recovery partition. Now, I don't have access to AlienRespawn or anything I use to have. My Alienware M17x R3(Which just came yesterday) isn't an Alienware laptop anymore. Everything had the Alienware flare before this accident. Is there any other way to restore this back to the factory settings? I think I screwed up big time. Could I possibly send it back and ask for a fix? Man, I'm stupid.

The biggest problem I see is that some of us who did a clean install are getting BSOD with the NVidia 266.06 drivers. If you have a 460M, please report back if you are getting BSOD after doing the clean install.

Otherwise, the only thing you can't get easily is the Roxio and Webcam software. I think you have to go to the Dell website after booting from your original HD to get to the download section.

I finally found the URL to hit to download the Roxio and Webcam software. It analyzes your system to determine what you have access to. So, I don't know if it will work from a clean install.

Did you create Recovery Media using Respawn right after your initial power up? - if you did, great - thats the Factory "out of box image" which will have your recovery partition on it.

Simplest thing I think to do would be to use those disc/s that you created to restore....then bingo, you will have your recovery back and can start your clean install all over again, making sure not to delete the recovery partition this time! lol ;)

You should also have a Resource disc that shipped with your system - that will have the preinstalled software that came with your system (or it should have!) such as webcam etc etc....

(I dont know how "up to date" your resource disc is regarding drivers but I would ensure that I have/use the latest ones from Dell Drivers/Downloads when performing a clean install)

Once you have done that, use the link posted above to get back that "Alienware" look and feel to your system if so desired. (PS - the "look and feel" link is great for restoring the look and feel to your system but it WONT restore your Recovery partition - I think, unless you made recovery media, you have nuked that partition for good unfortunately)
