I was thinking about buying a Dell UltraSharp U2913WM (29" LED LCD, 2560 x 1080, 60Hz) as a new primary monitor this summer. My M17x R2 currently has Crossfire 7970Ms, but due to a failed attempt at the 330W PSU mod [ See Here], I'm thinking of selling the second 7970M unless it becomes usable.

Does anyone have experience with a similar setup? It's a 20% increase in pixels compared to the laptop's built-in screen, but I'm not sure how significantly it would dent my framerates. At this point, I'm considering selling the laptop and building a desktop when the next Intel wave is released, and throwing a GTX 680 (or whatever is current then) in it.

I don't think making all those mods on the R2 is worth it to get it to work on that. I would rather just do the desktop thing. The FRames should not decrease a lot but they might be somewhat slower.
