So after a motherboard replacement earlier today (clock died, causing annoying ssl failures among other things), switchable graphics no longer worked on my system. My 6790m ran constantly, and while pressing fn-f7 would pull up the "Switchable graphics key press detected. Choose Yes to enable or No to cancel." dialog box, clicking yes would do nothing. No biggie, just have to reinstall all my graphics drivers, right? (Also had to reinstall touchpad drivers, and I believe WiMax is currently disabled)
Uninstalled Catalyst, uninstalled intel HD graphics, checked in driver manager that there was only the generic windows driver, (restarting along the way several times) and now each attempt to reinstall the HD3000 drivers results in "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software". This happens with both the official dell driver and the generic Intel driver, and yes I'm using a Sandy Bridge chip (2720QM).
After attempting to install the HD3000 drivers several times, I gave up and reinstalled Catalyst. (Which went perfectly fine)
Does anyone know how I could get switchable graphics working again? I really don't want to have to reinstall windows again... Thank you!

Try at first delete all drivers for you intel and amd video:
1. disable drivers installation from online (open system properties, devices tab, device installation parameters button, and choose NO)
2. delete all intel and amd from remove programs.
3. in device manager right click on amd or intel video card and choose properties, then drivers tab, after that click on delete (or remove, bottom button).
Remove step 3, as windows will try to install another one driver.
Reboot.
Now you are ready to install stock driver from DELL! That is important.
After installation, don't forget to enable device driver installation (step 1, but choose YES) -
Just learned that the Intel drivers are supposed to be packaged with the Dell/ATI graphics drivers, and reinstalled with your instructions... just to end up with only having a dedicated card again. fn-F7 still pulls up the switchable graphics dialog box, but pressing ok does nothing.

Do you see two video cards in device manager? Intel one and AMD another one? Does intel has any exclamation marks over it?
Can you reinstall Alienware OSD and Command Center?
Do you have latest BIOS? In that BIOS do you enabled internal graphics? -
Device manager shows only "AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series" and not the intel IGP.
I haven't tried reinstalling Command Center, though I suppose that could help. (Uninstall that, then OSD, then graphics drivers, reboot and reinstall OSD, then graphics drivers, then CC?)
Motherboard shipped with A04, which I flashed to A12. All settings are at their default except the drives are in AHCI mode and USB powershare is turned on when on battery. (So I'd assume integrated graphics are enabled there)
And thank you for helping! -

If the Intel is not being shown there you need to press Fn+F7 to get it back or try clearing the CMOS. That will make it come back.

Ha! Clearing CMOS did it! I had absolutely no confidence in that working, but it did! Required two restarts, and gave me a scare with the first boot returning 5 beeps, but it worked! Thank you!

Remove CMOS battery and then hold down the power button will completely drain it. Thats the easiest way to reset the CMOS.
