I had ordered an AW m17x but unfortunately received the wrong one.. I have returned it and am waiting for the correct laptop.

Anyway I had opened the laptop when I first received it and was quite dissatisfied with it..

My first impression was of the screen was that it had a yellowish tint. As I used it more I got accustomed to it and that didn't bother me.

However the real problem was the glare. It was too much..

I tried watching harry potter 5th part. I was wearing a bright yellow tee and in the dark scenes I could clearly see myself!!
It was so annoying that I switched over to my 14" $500 thinkpad l420!! The m17x cost me $4000 approx..(i even tried changing my t shirt to a grey one hehe!!)

And, not only in movies, even for normal daily usage indoors the glare would cause a lot of stress on my eyes (i have -7 eye power in both eyes, so my eyesight is quite weak already)..

Instead of making this a hate thread about glossy screens , I want this to be a solutions thread.

Please share any tips and workarounds (but no hard mods such as changing the lcd panel) to improve the visual experience..
I would love to hear about anti-glare filters, which companies are good etc or best calibrations to get the optimum visual experience.

    @little one-- hope so too..

@all- as i said in the original post, it is not the tint but the glare that bothers me most and I want to know how to reduce that so that I can atleast watch some movies properly

not related to this particular thread but i didnt want to create another thread just for this question??
Q> What is the dimension of the screen? (not the body)...

I found it a little off as I had trouble fitting one page of a pdf file in it while still keeping the font readable..
What is your experience relating to reading novels on the r3? Or do you use any other tablet for reading??

    Share away!

its a glossy screen you will get glare..

you can buy films which cover the screen and reduce it if you are so inclined.

    or dont wear yellow shirts.

    Which film are you using??
I read that films reduce the screen quality... Is that correct?

    Anyone using this- RT-SPM17X3D02?

how about you buy a separate ISP monitor? would be 20x better than anything you get on a laptop + you get to choose size

That is not possible for me right now....
Guess no other option but to stick a anti-glare protector on the screen!

its actually a matte screen covered with a glossy face. I hate the hell out of it and have even considered cutting an opening from the face for the screen.

If you check, the screen shield can be taken off. But then you lose the protection for the screen underneath. :(

I still want it to have a "bezel" of sorts. LCD screen coatings are pretty robust unless you attack it with a screwdriver or pair of scissors
