Hello there,
I have a problem with my laptop. So once I had it driven back to the brand new fresh Windows setup, I managed to see the 2 holy green triangles. I mean, it shows that SLI mode for my 280's is on. But, the performance still looks a BIT sh*t. I get about 1-5 fps in Just cause 2 almost maxed out.
Also, I noticed there is an unknown device in the device manager. And Windows cannot identify it so to me it looks like I still have a useless piece of plastic in my alienware. Can it be the SLI bridge?
In the device manager it is right under the videoadapters (graphics/display) section. Whatever it is in your language. So, people, help me out?
It looks like the games are ran on the 9400m, although the control panel tells me that SLI mode is enabled.

If you did what are your specs etc might help identify that extra unknown device..but an easier way for me would be if you please right click the device and go to properties. Go to the third tab/might be the last titled: "details" and post the info found on device description and hardware ID (first two choices of the drop down menu)
By the way regarding the two green triangles..to quote myself from another thread a big problem with the R1 and nVidia graphics is hybrid SLI does not functioning very well for gaming (two sideways green triangles on your taskbar means it is on hybrid sli and it sounds like you have it on)

ummmmm
I kind of failed installing the new 260.99 drivers, as it failed to complete the installation.
I had all my graphics turned off (hello VGA), as it failed, and I used Windows Device manager to get the drivers back.
Sure.....
But can you tell me a program name which I can use to get all my specs (if there is one).
Will HWinfo32 work?
Wait, let me try the thingy. With BIOS and sh*t. k? -

So to clarify: you did a fresh install of windows and you failed at updating the video card drivers? If so that concerns meDid an AW driver support team help you install it and all other drivers?
Anyway to do a clean install and update your GPU driver.
Download your newest driver [go to ]Dell - Support enter your service tag on the driver page select right OS]
Download two programs - CCleaner and Guru 3D Driver sweeper.
Go to your device manager > display adapters > right click and uninstall and also delete driver for them.
Reboot and tap F8 and boot into safe mode.
Run CC registry cleaner 2-3 times and then run the driver sweeper program - scan and delete anything in the nVidia display BUT NOT THE NVIDIA CHIPSET!
Reboot one more time just to make sure everything is ok and once again tap f8 to go into safe mode: make sure CCleaner and the driver sweeper have nothing to clean then install your new drivers and let it boot into normal windows: turn on your Sli etc and turn off hybrid sli etc like how I posted before.
If you wish you can PM me your service tag and i'll use the dell driver support page to send you a list of all the drivers you would need if you have any other driver problems or you can contact alienware tech support and ask for someone from the "driver support team" to help you with your windows installation. -

Is that it?
Actually I did not install Windows myself, my uncle did the thing for me. And once I got it back I had the SLI problem, check out my other post (will you please).
Do you want me to reinstall Windows?
Anyways, I PM you my Service tag, you tell me what to do. Did I get it right?
Btw, I did the thing you told me to (disable hybrid and integrated)
I turned the SLI on in the settings, but it doesn't show up as a triangle anymore, although it is visible in the control panel.
Nothing changed in performance apart from this. -
That device which is not recognized is your infa-red sensor...go to dell support and download the ITE IT8512 CIR Receiver found in the input device drivers.
I do not need you to reinstall windows no.
Just make sure you are downloading the right drivers for your windows. If your uncle used windows 7 make sure when you go to support.dell.com > support for home users > drivers and downloads > and enter your service tag > find downloads. Once the drivers are found choose the right OS [example are you using windows 7 or windows vista 32 bit vs 64 bit] or you will run into a world of problems
Unknown device slows R1 system down?
