According to eepo, the exact card you mention power throttles and why he doesnt use it along with ultimately moving on the Area-51m.

 

these news are game changers for the m17x r4 and the ranger. we need more info. 20.000 graphics score in an r4/ranger makes it futureproof for 7+ years

 

I think he sold the card a while ago.

For 200w cards your going to need to splice some of that draw from another source.

 

Well , I bought the same card for a different setup , but I can test drive it again in the R4 for you guys if you wanted. Let me know.

If the power is externally sourced then it shouldnt matter.

Though I imagine the EC might have a problem with it.

 

External PSU for the GPU would be fine with me. We already have such a huge brick. What's a second one?

 

as far as i understand rengsey got the 20.000 gpu score without an external power source...
so how did he do it?

 

20k firestrike doesn't mean it plays games well.
