Does anybody got this problem aswell?
When I unplug the Power cord my computer freezes and I need to remove the battery and force a shutdown to make it work again.
Also when I put it to sleep it freezes the same way.
-
*facepalm*
Sorry to hear that, man. Sounds frustrating. -
-
Try disabling crossfire before pulling the cord out. The battery probably can't handle the sudden load.
-
I've tryed this already, happens the same way.
And my AC Power Adapter just died, my system is rejecting it saying that it's a Non-Dell Adapter, so it wont charge, these are probably my last 90 minutes using this laptop. -
That sucks man, contact nagshead, he can probably help you out. Enjoy the last 90 mins
-
I have the same issue. Try stock Dell driver if your not on it.
I have been to lazy to test it all out but I have heard that fixes it. -
Does the Adapter needs a driver?
interesting, sorry but i'm noob. -
I was refering to the stock Dell driver for the ati cards
-
Hey, this last minutes using my laptop without the AC Power Adapter, I've tryed some games with the Xfire on and I didnt have any flickering.
The FPS was low but no flickering.
Do you guys think that my problem might be a defective AC Adapter? -
No when you are on battery the cards downclock and so does the CPU.
It reduces power consumption so it does not flicker -
I also hit the 'non-dell adapter' thing this morning. Not sure if it is related to some...interesting wiring here (we've got several outlets where my UPS thinks that hot and neutral are switched) or the power supplies.
Attempting to reproduce the error. I wonder if disabling the check for compatible AC adapters in the BIOS would help?

BTW, mine froze pulling the power cord also. -
-
It also "flickered" when I pulled it.
-

-
my r1 atis froze when i pulled the cord as well with 9.12 drivers with or without hotfix.
with only the dell driver, pulling the cord dint have any system freeze issues.
maybe its the same with your r2s. driver problem -
-
Had the same issue with my ATI-M17xR1
-
Same here with R1. It's clearly a driver issue. Had the same with 280s in Linux. Lazy to switch back to the stock drivers.

Nope!!! I never had that issue with my R1 w/ 260M and Q9000. There were thousand times I purposely or accidentally unplug the AC adapter. Not a single free. Its because my system didnt eat power as much as yours?
-
It's because you didn't experiment with other OS like Linux and with unstable drivers
-
It only happens with ATI's.
-
-
Well that's a good sign. The LED lights up.

When 90% people have Nvidia based M17x, Nvidia was to blame. Now massive ATI based M17x are out and ATI in its turn is to blame -
Just now my AC Power Adapter came back to life...
Do you think that this might be BIOS problem, and the AC Power Adapter is jut fine? -
I tested this on my laptop when I got home today. I unplugged the cord from the wall...nothing happend. I unplugged the cable from the back of the laptop...nothing happened.
So I don't seem to have this problem as of right now. I am using the stock drivers. -
If I return with the dell driver is there a real change of the performance? -
i wonder if the problem with unplugging the ac adapter is somehow linked to my problem of getting the "non dell ac adapter" when i start the computer up?
-
I had this problem with my two Aurora laptops; sleep mode = Freeze; Close screen for a second = freeze; leave it on unattended for too long = freeze.
Frustrated me to hell, I found out it was a driver issue, updated the drivers (Cards were Nvidia 7900's) and all was good.
Nothing went wrong when I pulled the AC though. -
i mean i have heard and do believe that it has somethign to do with the modded 9.12 cat drivers that i do have installed, but i got this non dell adapter the first time i turned my computer on. i called dell and they got me to do some stuff to my computer and it quit doing it. they said if it happened again they would get me another adapter.
-
-
take the battery out and hold the power button for ten seconds. it gets all the power out of the motherboard. don't think it had todo witha bad ac adapter. pretty sure they just said something to make me happy but whatever
-
Has everyone who has had this "unplugging the power cord" problem got it with the stock video drivers or just the Catalyst 9.12 modded ones? I am curious as I want to try the 9.12 drivers, but if this problem comes up I will hold off on installing it. -
-
I have only been using the Dell drivers and haven't had any problems yet. I will just stick with them until something is confirmed on what causes this problem.
-
I have the stick drivers from dell. on a R2 version. I have been having this issue allot. I found that in the Catalyst driver app if you turn the crossfire mode on this problem goes away. not sure why this was not on in the first place but i tried a lot of things before finding out that this was the issue for me on this laptop. not sure if this will work for anyone else but i thought i would at least post it so other can try it on there setup. please let me know if this helps with the others non dell driver set. thanks
-
format.
install drivers in the proper order
of those drivers, install the catalyst 10.3 drivers for mobiles, from here:

@ Koleion thanks for the heads up on the crossfire setting. This absolutely cleared things up for me after confirming that the battery was being charged properly and there were no issues with the AC adapter. All cleared up and thanks again for taking the time to post
