    Hey guys

I have an April 2014 build Alienware 17, it's been purring like a kitten up until now, when I use the dell support assistant to scan the laptop for hardware errors, it shuts down all of a sudden, there is no error codes or bsod. I stress tested the GPU and that passed, but when I test CPU it crashes, unsure what the problem is or how to fix, any help is greatly appreciated.

Is there a program that I should use to make sure there isn't actually a problem?

Possibly that's the issue. May became worse. Can you play games fine or use heavy duty programs just find?

I haven't had any problems when playing games or running programs other than a bit of frame rate drop here and there. It's never just randomly shut off before, and it only does it when I use that support assistant program. So it made me think there is a cpu problem.

Strange though only when you do a stress test? I looked up the test and Dell states this for the stress test.

This Test will load the CPU and Ram to 100% and test it. It will make enoguh heat to determine if the processor is overheating or not.

So maybe even the RAM. Check heat while testing and tend to any issues ASAP self or warranty.

The latest version of Dell Support Assistsnt was supposed to fix those issues. Which version are you using? And in all honesty there are a lot of better programs to do the same job - test all the hardware components. Ideally you can use other software and simply uninstall DSA.
