This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Unwhelming replacement (R1 to R2)

    That was on the old one. Took about four hours from start to finish, but I was being pretty fastidious about what screws went where and whatnot (I had over two dozen labeled piles of laptop giblets and screws). Since it was my personal laptop I wanted to ensure that no mistakes were made or screws left out. In the end, all I got for my effort was a less wobbly laptop, but that was the goal so I couldn't really complain. LOL

    Regarding the VBIOS issue, check the 80+ page sticky. reborn2003's link to the vbios update fixed me right up.
