When I launch Bioshock Infinite I get the message that,
"Your video drivers appear out of date".
My video card is AMD Radeon HD 6900M Series.
I tried to follow the steps but I am unable to install the driver. Would you be able to tell me the right steps to reinstall the newest drivers.
By the way, I played Bioshock Infinite on my current driver on high-settings and my game runs fine.
I followed these steps. I did step 11 and installed Catalyst Center.
Proper AMD/ATI Driver Install - Alienware User Support
But I do not get a new driver for my old one that I deleted.
Please help.
I did all the steps and I am able to get the 6900M driver in my device manager but it is not running despite the manager saying it is "working properly". Still in VGA mode.

Uninstall driver with Driver Fusion or universal driver uninstaller and install again.
-
I am using the latest AMD driver for HD 6900M series, version 13.11 (it is beta version).
Here is the link: Mobile 7 - 64
Note, I cannot run the driver verification tool (installation app on that link), should I be concerned?
Anyway, I installed the latest driver and it did not install properly. I uninstalled it, used driver fusion, ccleaner. Now reinstalling a 2nd time. -
bigtonyman Desktop Powa!!!
my r3 is having all sorts of issues atm, but have you tried the latest whql drivers? Those might work better idk
-
I been able to install the driver using the latest beta version.
It feels a little different. It just feels like things are running not as smoothly as before. However, Bioshock Infinite was running just run and it did not tell me I was playing it with outdated drivers. Maybe the computer feels slower as it is overheated from running Bioshock for a few hours. But all the games I ran so far ran fine. I try again tomorrow.
Maybe I should install a less recent driver? But all the driver websites only have the recent ones. -
Something strange happened. I was just using my computer with the new driver and it was working and I was able to play games smoothly on it. Windows was installing updates in the meantime so I restarted the comptuer. When I restarted the computer it returned back to VGA-mode, why? Can someone explain what is going on and how to fix this?
Oh, and this time, when I went into the device manager 6900M HD had an exclamation point to it. -

The exclamation point in Device Manager is telling you that something is wrong with your Graphics Card or how it is installed with the drivers. It sounds like a driver problem if these problems only started occuring after installing a new driver. I don't know too much about AMD graphics cards, but with NVidia it often solves problems if you do the following:
1) Uninstall Graphics Drivers using 'Programs & Features' in the Windows Control Panel.
2) Use Driver Sweeper to remove any remnants of Graphics Drivers.
3) Install the latest graphics driver from the DELL website. Often times this is the key step to 'prime' the system ready for installing a later driver from the AMD website.
4) Install the latest graphics driver from AMD website without uninstalling the previous driver. This step works for NVidia, but I'm unsure if AMD recommend installing drivers over previous versions without removing the previous ones first.
(The computer will ask you to reboot inbetween some of those steps above.)
(If you think you're having temperature issues, clean out the heatsinks & fans using a can of compressed air, which you will definitely need to do if it's not something you've done before! But I don't think that would be the cause of your exclamation mark in Device Manager). -
As of now the device manage displays the correct driver without an exclamation point but it is still running in VGA mode.
Can the recent update from Windows messed up what I installed? Before the update I got my computer to run the recent beta driver that I installed and it was working. After I installed Windows updates and restarted my computer it was in VGA mode again, I looked at update history and some of the updates were driver and framework updates which were already installed manually. Could the Windows one messed the manual ones and how do I know? -
This is very strange.
After I entered the computer in VGA mode and installed the automatic windows updates I restarted the computer. This time I entered in standard mode like I was supposed to.
But my computer displayed the following errors: "Alienrespawn stopped functioning", "catalyst center stopped functioning", when I tried to enter internet explorer it "internet explorer stopped functioning".
But now internet explorer is functioning. This is very strange. And what is causing this? -
Updated list of errors. Please help.
Error 1) I had to go somewhere for a few minutes so I closed my computer lid, it is program to enter sleep-mode when lid closes. When I came back and opened up the lid the display never turned on. The computer was still working as I was able to hear the sounds and stuff, but there was 0 display.
Error 2) I forced shut down. When I restarted my computer I successfully loaded the new driver, except I got the error message on start-up "alienrespawn has stopped worked". When I tried to go to IE again it said "internet explorer has stopped worked" until I closed IE and reopened it again.
Error 3) I cannot load Catalyst Command Center. Every time it says "host application stopped functioning". -
Side note: Do you have antivirus or at least Windows 8 defender?
-
Yes I have an anti-virus.
These errors (Alienrespawn, blank screen after sleep-mode, IE, and CCC not loading) all happened after I started doing this business with my drivers.
I noticed another issue: When I launched Bioshock Infinite again, it said my drivers were outdated, though the game ran fine. I believe the current windows update ignored my recent beta driver and reinstalled an old outdated driver someone in place of the recent one. -
I uninstalled as much as I could using CCleaner in register, DriverFusion, and CCC.
But I cannot get rid of the two exclamation marks next to AMD Radeom HD 6900M and Intel HD 300. I think I am supposed to have two VGA drivers there instead. But they do not show up. I tried uninstalling one of them and reinstalling the entry in device manager but it still comes up as AMD and Intel. -
THIS IS VERY STRANGE!
I tried to delete everything that I could using DriverFusion and CCC and CCleaner. I have no ATI technology installed on my computer anywhere.
But my graphics card is running, how can that be?! -
If it works at FullHD then it can't.
-
The computer is running without any issues. No error messages as before.
However, there is no Catalyst Center installed on this computer anymore. But the driver is running. How can that be? Especially when I tried to uninstall it before the restart using DriverFusion. -
Device manager should tell you if driver is installed or not. I don't know AW but perhaps you are gaming on integrated GPU but I may be wrong.
