Ok I am having some problems with connecting my computer to my TV. Ever since I updated my computer to Windows 8.1 when I connect my HDMI cable to connect my Laptop to my TV and the sound will not switch over to my TV speakers automatically llike it did prior to the update. I have to turn my computer off and on with the HDMI connected which can be very annoying. Has anyone else had this problem and if you did, how do you fix it? Thanks in advance.

Try going to "Playback Devices" using the speaker icon in the system tray - and selecting the HDMI audio as the default - when the HDMI cable is connected.

Yes the best way to fix this issue to set your default audio device as HDMI, you will only have to do it once.

As soon as you unplug HDMI the sound will switch back to the laptop

These 2 comments are very accurate. That should fix the problem. If you are still experiencing issues, you can try reinstalling the audio drivers.

I don't see HDMI Audio. It showed my TV and I set that to default, but when I unplugged and plugged in my HDMI again the same problem persisted.

I have done that numerous times and it has not changed the problem. I don't want to say it's Win. 8.1 but it almost feels like it.

This might be overkill, but if your willing to do it. Reinstall Windows 8.1 and follow the driver install order on the forum and see if that helps.

I would assume reinstalling the Intel Drivers should fix this.

let me know what you come up with.

PS - I use windows 8.1 on a daily basis and i dont have any such issue.
