Hey guys,
I have an Alienware m17xR3 with the switchable graphics combo. I got the ATI Radeon 6900m / Intel HD 3000 (2nd gen).
I had been fighting with wanting to upgrade my ancient drivers for a long time but was never successful at following this guide here which has been referenced many times on these forums
Proper AMD/ATI Driver Install - Alienware User Support
So instead I just went via leshcat's website and followed all his instructions for proper cleaning and how to install his AMD ATI 14.4 WHQL unifl v1.1 release. I got it installed and all however...
The issue I'm having now is that when I switch to my Intel card, I'm unable to switch back to my discrete ATI card; so I get a eternal black screen.. Need to hard reboot..
Second, whenever my computer goes to sleep or hibernate, I'm unable to wake it from that state.. The screen stays black while everything else seems to be on and running. Again, I need to hard reboot..
Lastly.. The brightness control on the function keys is broken and there is no option in Power settings for Windows 7 Home Edition. So the screen is constantly at its brightest..
I had tried the recommended UBR fix that they talk about on the forums.. Also known as Unifl Brightness resolver which comes with the latest leshcat installer for his 14.4 WHQL drivers.. I looked through his FTC database but haven't had any success with fixing the brightness and black screen syndrome yet. Has anyone here had to deal with this issue before? Some have been able to fix it, others just live with the fact that they can never ever put their laptop to sleep or hibernate again.. Simply just turn it off all the way which is a hindrance to me.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's what happens with most of the recent drivers. It's better to keep using the DELL ones or try another version that's new but older than the one you selected.
Updated to leshcat 14.4 WHQL unifl v1.1, now I get black screen on wake
