    As the title says.

I have been using an iPhone headset in my aux port just fine, when plugged in I would get a promt to use the PC speaker array or the headset mic. Now post update no headphones at all work in the port.

I have tried updating the speaker drivers and it does not change.

    Have a Alienware 17R2 (early '15)

I have an m17x R4, same exact problem.
ok so i uninstalled the drivers for audio. which were the soundblaster recon3di ones. which disabled any sound. then i rebooted and it now plays sound out of my headset. however it doesnt recognize it as a head set plugged in. Just shows speakers. I dont know how i am going to get my mic to work...... :/

I found a fix. By going to the dell driver support I found the drivers for my model and downloaded and installed the Sound Blaster Recon3Di Driver for windows 8. For me this is version 6.0.100.2039.
here is the link to all the drivers for my model:
    http://downloads.dell.com/published/pages/alienware-m17x-r4.html
and for the actual driver i installed:
    http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER00796472M/6/Audio_Creative_W84_X03_A00_Setup-W39M6_ZPE.exe
Im not too active on these forums but i will be checking on this if i can for a couple days in case you have any questions. i hope this fixes your problems aswell.
    Peace
