Does anyone know if alienware will do this?

Then again, this probably wont be a valid option for me since I have the 3d bundle and I dont think it will be compatible with the 6970. I'm just sad that I cant run my games on the highest settings. I'm just curious and trying to find ways to improve my machine's performance.

If you chose the 6970m over the 460m what was the price difference? Trying to see how much an upgrade will cost.

    Thanks for all the help

They will do it but it will be expensive. The 3D screen will not work with the 6970m so you'll need the gpu(about $450 USD), the screen(no idea but I'm guessing $700-1000 knowing Dell's screen prices), pads/paste(about $10-20), and a lot of patience/time/know how. It's sad but your best bet is to either return it if you can, or sell it and snag an outlet rig with the specs you want.

When did you purchase your laptop , if it is still within the return period then return it and get a one with the 6970m.

I believe its still within its return period. However I do like the 3d screen. I wonder if dell will upgrade and take back the 460m card or maybe even wait for a 485m upgrade. 400-500 dollars for an upgrade is a bit much, did you guys have to pay that much to get the 6970 instead of the 460m?

I believe during configuration the upgrade from 6870m to 6970m was $250.

Yeah the config update was 250$ but an upgrade now will cost you 400-500$ and Dell probably wont even do it, as far as i know the 6970m will not even work with the 120hz screen. So you can either sacrifice 3d and return yours and place a new order or you can keep your laptop. If you want a more powerful 3d laptop then you should probably get another laptop as the m17x only offers(and supports) 460m with 3d.
