Does anyone have a North American contact number for a company that can supply me with two cards that are compatible with the R2? I'm looking to replace my old 5870s with 6990s and no matter who I seem to call, I can't get a hold of someone in sales. Also, if anyone has the link to the mod thread, that would be excellent. Sorry if this post is a little redundant

Send an email to '[email protected]'. Tell him what you want, and to invoice you if you use PayPal, etc. The 6970s are not that far off from the 6990s, for what it is worth.

Does anyone know of a guide for removing the original cpus in my machine? That doesn't seem to be covered in this guide and I have yet to open up my machine other than to dust it and replace a fan.

There are a number of guides out there. Here is one I found on youtube:

M17x Teardown Video1 of 2 **READ SAFETY PRECAUTIONS PRIOR TO REPLACING PARTS** (Official Video) - YouTube

You can pretty much ignore everything except the parts to get you to the video cards. So essentially removing the touch panel, the keyboard and then the video cards. Pretty simple to do.

Also, I believe Eurocom sells the 6990s as well

Eurocom Corporation - Number 1 in Desktop Replacement Notebook Technology

Go to the upgrade center, and they have pricing there as well (haven't personally ordered from them, but another place to check) Looks like they are running about $436 USD.

Also a lot more information on the link that Mkelliny posted as well.

    Good luck!
