Doesn't matter where you download it from even official would work after modding the inf file you need to disable driver signature to install modded driver

OK, modded . Tried to install via Setup, came along way but in the end failed for some reason. Tried to manually update , think it is the latest driver?
Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks so much for your help.

The 980M can run the latest Nvidia driver so you should have one that is later than Feb20. Right click on your desktop and select the Nvidia Control Panel. What driver version does it say you have?

    Hi again.

Downloaded the latest driver from official Nvidia. Installing, obviously fails. However the container where disappears after the fail install? Why that, I cannot mod because when it fail the folder with the fails disappears.

When the folder is there you just have to Copy and Paste it. It will say something like NVIDIA - Copy. When you close the installer then the original folder will disappear but the copied folder will remain. You can use this copied folder to mod the .inf

Yes that's what I did. Install still fails, but in the end I can manually update the driver. Thanks

Sorry, I'm not quite sure where the issue is. How do you mean you can manually update the driver? There is one driver that Windows will find and install but it's an older version....something like 389.xx or around there.
If the driver installation is failing after modding the .inf then you may not have disabled driver signature enforcement before attempting the installation. Disabling this only works once so if you restart the machine before installing the modded driver it will reset back to default so you have to disable it again.

I don't really think there is an issue anymore. I am on driver 27.21.14.5206. Which I assume is the newest. I tried the disabling signature enforcement and the installer still fails. However if mod the file and browse locally via device manager and update it works. However the official installer fails regardless if I mod the inf file + signature enforcement.

I looked up that driver and it looks to be the latest one. Just right click on your desktop and select the Nvidia Control Panel, it should tell you the proper version you have. It should say 452.xx or whatever the latest one is.
