Hi all, I suddenly faced this problem wherein my r4 3D display doesnt show anything at all but i am able to view everything normally in the extended monitor. I have not heard any beeps indicating any particular hardware failure.

No flicker or anything at all. sound etc is normal. I am able to play videos etc and view it on extended monitor.

What do u guys think? GPU? R4 3D monitor is gone? or cable?

I have never overclocked etc. using latest beta nvidia drivers. I have been using them without any issues.

Please let me know if you guys come up with clues....If possible I want to avoid getting the monitor changed although I have complete cover to take care of this issue. Just recently I had the keyboard changed. Thank you....

Since you are able to get video output on an external monitor, it isn't likely that your GPU is the issue. If I had to guess, I would say your display might be dead :(. However, before concluding the worst, I would go check your video driver's suite (CCC or Nvidia Control Panel) to make sure that your GPU isn't trying to send signal to an external source, as opposed to your laptop's display. I'll look around a bit to see if anyone else has had a similar issue, and edit my post if I manage to find anything to help you out.

If you're not even seeing the alienhead (bios) screen on the internal monitor it is going to most likely be the panel. I had mine replaced within 2 days of calling them when I had issues at boot. It's a weird one as if there is a cabling problem you should get the beeps when it attempts to test the video subsystem.

    Does Fn-F6 make any difference?

I'd just call it in if the panel had zero output. If it is only in windows then indeed you could have some weird driver/software problem but support may want you to revert to the factory default before proceeding further.

    Good luck!

Hie, srry couldnt reply sooner....just got my new screen installed...Its a SEC5044....However it doesnt show up on HWINFO. I had to check the Hardware ID on device manager. I believe its the correct one. It came without the top lid and camera. I had to transfer them all.

Well after I had made the thread I also noticed my screen was infact working BUT the backlight or illumination was absolutely dead. I could hardly see the image. So it was definitely not the GPU, cable etc.. The backlighting element in the LED panel went kaput.

I had NBD so complained on 13th and had the new screen shipped. They however failed to fix an apppintment during working hours on schedule despite part availability. So I ended up forcing them make their 24hours service crew to make a pitstop at my house at 0000hours....LOL!!!.

I was really curious as to how the backlight went poof!!...According to Dell engineers this can also happen when the panel is used often at 120Hz when not in 3D mode. I was quite surprised to hear this.

They claimed among other reasons this has been found to be one of the contributing reasons. I dont know whats the technical validity of their statement or advise but I am still perplexed as to why a screen manufactured to natively support 120Hz can cause issues when that particular frequency is used.

I hope the mavericks in the forum can shed some light on this.

Thank you for the replies...and I do hope this doesnt repeat itself.
