My previous RAID setup consisted of two 500GB HDDs in RAID 0. One of the failed and I lost all my data. If I install an SSD as a replacement to the dead drive, will the computer recognize that as a RAID 0 array? Sorry if I am messing up my technical jargon >.< I plan on buying an OCZ Octane 256GB SSD to replace it.

you want to raid 0 a 500 HDD with a 256gig SSD? no that doesn't sound right.
You don't want a raid 0 array in this case. In theory it will work, but your system will only go as fast as the slowest harddrive which will negate your SSD.
You want to do a clean install of windows on the SSD and have that as your primary drive (boot from this one)...then your 500HDD will be kept for storage. This is the optimal configuration. -
okay now I understand. thanks.

Yea, what Slick said.
If you do RAID 0 them, they will operate at the 500GB HDD speed, and will be at the 256GB size. Thus you will have a slow, 500GB C: drive. You'll have wasted SSD speed, and wasted HDD space.
