I was on the plane today watching a movie on my m17xr3. It just died in the middle of it, it was on half battery. Now when I boot, I get only one beep, and no video or anything. What happened? Any fix? I am out of town and I really need to use this laptop, the iPhone isn't gonna cut it. Thx in advance. 580m vid card 120 hz panel

Any warrenty left? Otherwise...time to buy an R4! -
Yup still got warranty. That blows hard I wonder wht could have caused that? Sometimes when I play with the CMOS battery, LCD lights up and acts like it posts, but promptly shuts off and restarts with the beep. Oh well. First and last alienware, never had a computer do that to me before. Looks like its time to go back to thinkpads.

Oh well, if you leave the mothership there will be more units available for me the next time I go to buy an m17x! -
Why not use your warranty and get your laptop fixed instead of just giving up and hating on AW? Laptops break, it happens. At least your system has a warranty that is backed up fully by the company behind it. My last ASUS crapped out on me twice. Granted they repaired it, but I had to send it in to them both times and had about a month wait before getting my system back. Dell will either send out a tech or replace your entire system.

I absolutely HATE going through Alienware warranty. It took a month and a half to fix my last problem. My warranty expires in less than a month and I'm scared the problem won't be resolved by then. By the time I get back stateside, I will have 2 weeks before warranty is up. I'll have to get them to move quickly.

As long as you initiate it before your time is up, it wont be a problem.
