So I just my m17x, however when I play music, the sound comes only from the front of the laptop, parasitically were my hands would if i was typing. This results in a muffled sound. Is this normal with alienware laptop? and is there a way to resolve this? thanks.

Yes, your two vents in the front are where your sound and speakers are located. Unfortunately, your wrists will hover over those while typing, and possibly creating this muffled sound you are getting. I only and have always used a headset so I have never experienced this myself.

hmm i see, but dont u think its rather odd to have the speakers in front, rather than the back as normal with almost all laptops? also, I think am experiencing stuttering audio, especially when I go to the creative sound blaster control panel and raise the volume to max. any thoughts on this?

Agreed on the position of the speakers. Try re-installing the driver, that may clear up the stuttering audio issue.
