    Choice A:
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU Q9300 @2.53GHz (4CPUs)
    8 GB Ram
    500GB Hard Drive
    NVIDIA GEFORCE
    $550

    Choice B:
    (2011)

    8GB RAM
    750GB HDD + a 128GB SSD
    Powerful Intel Core i7 processor
Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 (2 GB)

    Price: $650

2 friends of mine are selling their used alienwares.. I am having difficulty choosing between the 2. Please help me decide since this is my first time purchasing a gaming laptop.
I really want to negotiate with them to lower their price but I am having difficulty since I understand almost nothing about specs comparison. The only thing I told them was their battery life is really bad now which helped me drop $20.
Please tell me why I should buy it at this price or why I shouldn't.

Also, is it really possible to get a decent gaming desktop (custom-built) for $500-$600 range?
I really want to negotiate the price

Thanks for helping out a newbie.

    Take Care.

It's not even a question. Choice B all the way, which sounds like it is a M17x R4 with ivy bridge Core i7 quad core + hyperthreading = 8 logical cpus and a very strong graphics card, GTX 680M

Choice A is a M17x R1.....very old, dated, and not even room for upgrades because the board was a limiting factor even for graphics cards. He is asking WAY WAY WAY too much for that computer.

    Thanks Raidriar for your input!

I still want to negotiated the price of Choice B down if possible. (My budget is tight). Anything I can say to him regarding his hardware?
Also, could you provide me a link to a decent website your video that is authentic on (HOW TO) and (WHAT) parts to buy to make your on custom CPU.

Because if that is cheaper then I will go with option C.
