Hi, I'm just wondering at what programs or use does the Stealth Mode give the best performance to?
So far it FAILS at everything that (I've) used once Stealth Mode is active (didn't realize that... the touch indicator doesn't look any different when enabled or disabled)... it gave me constant freezing on video/gaming and even while surfing the internet.
So what are the Advantages of Stealth Mode? do they out weigh the Disadvantages?

I don't find it useful at all and it is a terrible feature.

Dont think there are ANY advantages of stealth mode....these things are meant to run on AC for best performance....and why on earth anyone would want to use stealth while connected to the wall is beyond me....if you start up on battery, it runs in low power mode anyhow.....
IMO, its a waste of space and quite an annoyance to ensure you have not accidentally enabled it.....have read loads of people complaining to have performance issues only to find out they were "accidentally" in stealth mode.....
It ranks as one of the most useless bits of junk that i can imagine.... -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
I use stealth mode in my car as it drops consumption to 60 watts I believe which when plugged in through the car lighter without stealth mode the charger never comes on

if im correct i believe stealth mode clocks ur cpu down to the performace of a celeron processor and of course throttles down your gpu so you can use less power. i use it wen im plugged in and using my computer for things like web browsing and music. that way my sli's arent active all the time and my temps arent as high. also i dont have to deal with the constant fan sound.

Stealth Mode is proprietary so perhaps it is the reason why Catalyst Generic Drivers won't work with CF HD 5870's. The absolute dumbest feature I have ever encountered on an enthusiast computer.

Stealth Mode is more important on the R1 rather than R2. When in windows and you change to stealth mode, it automatically switches to integrated graphics which doubles if not more, the battery operating time. Plus when I go to bed at night and need to leave the pc on, I always switch to stealth mode so the fans don't blow/start blowing and making even more noise/heat than what it already produces.

Turbo mode button to replace the stealth mode button ---> To really send you into orbit!!!!
My idea for the R2 would be to have the Stealth mode button be changed into a turbo mode button. Kinda like the MSI gaming machines with their turbo mode button. That would be great ey eehehehhe. An instant OC or NOS button if you will lol. Like when you press it, it gives you a 10 - 20% instant OC on the CPU or GPUs. Then when your done gaming or what have you. You just press it again to turbo down.
Cheers. -

Older PC's, really old PCs that is, had a turbo button. This was when 7MHz was considered normal speed lol... -
Would like to see a built in CPU and Ram monitor in place of stealth function. The stealth gauge looks identical to the CPU monitor on a logitech G19 keyboard so it would lend itself well to that function.
-
ahhh the good old turbo button...a friend I remember well...and come to think of it I don't think I ever turned Turbo off either....

Yeah, "turbo" wasn't really a "turbo" function. It was a way you could take 33mhz 386 and drop it down to 4.77 for compatibility with older 8088 applications. Systems without the turbo button didn't run slower, they just ran at full speed all the time.
As for the modern system, the fan idea is a decent one. There have been a few times with my R1 I left it on at night and something ate just enough CPU cycles to make my machine noisy.

unlike many of you here i found stealth mode is good in some certine situation (other than electrical consumption)
i installed civilization V, an RPG game (addicted to them), anyways when i ran the game with full details it sometimes crashes in the middle of the game, before it crashes the game freezes for a second and then the fans starts to go really fast and thats it, the game quites with some error.
when i tried the stealth mode playing the game (with full details also) I never experienced crash with this game, the game lags just a little bit when the "turn switching" happens (this is what they call it in the game where it is the time for the other player to play, and usually most of the proccessing is happening when the turn switching happens).
I dont have a logical explantion to why this is happening to this particular game, all i know is if i want to play this game without crashes every now and then than i hate to use stealth mode for it
in case if anyone else is wondering, my graphic cards is crossfire 5870 with the latest drivers and vBIOS -
Don't get me started on Stealth mode....
-
I played through Arkham Asylum in Stealth Mode. Ran surprisingly well at about 30 FPS and slow-mo lag. Nice for when you are not doing anything.
-
I can think of a bunch of old games that do not need all the extra power that could run great in stealth mode. Reduce heat and noise, plus possibly reduce issues with have too much power. Games like Diablo 2 and Sacred, also a ton of adventure games.
-
I still dont see the difference between stealth mode and switching to power saver mode in windows. And like irkan and Harryboieye stated, you can still run games at decent rates in stealth mode, keeping it fans quiet enogh to hear the game! In fact, my wife wont let me game unless I'm in stealth mode and in the same room with her!
-
Stealth mode also reduces your FSB speed in the R2 to conserve.
-
Stealh mode is used to emulate a Mac lol ..........jk

its useful for irritating you
thats about it.
