So, I am currently deployed in Afghanistan, and this new li-ion policy is really upsetting. I can't mail batteries via usps anymore, so i contacted the local fed-ex rep here and it will cost over $600.00 for shipping...So with that being said I am thinking about just having the wife ship the laptop without the battery and played plugged in. Can the M17x still operate without the battery or is that a key item and wont work without it?

I saw it double post and i was wondering what happened.

You will be able to do whatever you want with it as long as it's plugged in, of course.
There isn't any risk of running it without the battery :)

    Good luck and take care!
