Just curious if the weight is just too much to bear?

I've always gamed on my lap 100% of the time and I was able to bear laptops such as the G73 just fine.

    To compare, the G73 weighs 8.5LBS and the M17X-R2, a whopping 11.68LBS.

I'm afraid that if I pick one up from the outlet, it'll be too uncomfortable to game. I find myself fit/active, but at the same time keep asking myself: "can I withstand 13.68LBS on my legs for 3-4hrs at a time?"

Perhaps someone with a comparable physique could comment ..6'4" / 167LBS.

But yeah, desk is out of the question :p

You would definitely want a desk, even if it is out of the question. I cant even imagine having this thing on my lap. You will need to have it in a very uncomfortable position to not block the vents, like half the laptop on your lap and the other half sticking out in the air.

I have used it on a cooler several times on my lap for long gaming sessions, but it was a little of a hassle with all my peripherals attached so I bought a desk.

Similar build to you just shorter 6'0 /150 lol. I def would not recommend putting this on your lap without something underneath to protect certain areas.

Without a laptop cooler, NOT advisable. If it's cold and near sub-zero, on your lap for a heater, sure, why not? :p

You could buy one of those laptop lap board things to put it on.

This. I bought one of the Logitech lap desk things for use with my M17xR3. It's not a cooler, but it keeps the laptop off my legs, and keeps my legs from blocking the fan intakes. Way more comfortable. Cost about $30 or so at Newegg.
