Do you guys think a ranger with a 1070 would support an Oculus rift S?
Using steam and oculus compatibility tests everything seems to be fine with the specs (results in the files), but I was wondering if I would be limited by the displayport and/or the USB.

Oh seems you have a R5. Should work ok. My R4 does work with 1070M

The mDP on the Ranger/R4 is 1.2(a?), and both have USB 3 ports

I've played superhot vr on the psvr it's super fun, I'll check robo recall, everyone seems to like that. I also want to use the oculus to see what is like to develop for VR and how I can implement the headset in my workflow.

So it took longer than expected but here we are.
So far I can only say that it seems to work great I've also tried some games but I'm not ready to post detailed results yet. For now here you go: an Oculus Rift S working on a 2013 laptop.

Does the Rift S put less stress on the USB 3.0? I had to get some Germans to sign the old 2013 Intel drivers to get them to fix the USB issues in Win10.

The OG Rift on R4 is super picky about the camera setup since I think the USB 3.0 latency/bandwidth is at the max.

I've had no problems with the rift s, perhaps it's because it uses only one usb port since it doesn't have the external cameras. What kind of problems did you have?

Constant loss of tracking with the Win10 USB 3.0 driver. Like nearly unplayable.

With the "hacked" Intel 2013 Native you can actually go through the camera setup steps. But like any tiny adjustment off then similar tracking issues. Anyone not having a dedicated VR room should get the Rift S since bumped cameras happen a lot.

Yeah the rift S inside tracking fixes that I believe, I should also add that I'm using the USB port with PowerShare I don't know if that makes a difference, I've not tried any other port as that is the one closer to the mini display port

Probably just uses the USB for power to the display and not a massive, endless steam of data.

What are you doing for GPU fan control?

Nothing at the moment, everything works great and temps are good just like with any other game, if anything I may need to upgrade the cpu as it may have become a bottleneck for VR.

Oh I didn't know 1070 was native fan control on the R1. =/

Any certain or special vbios you flashed it to?

Where did you get the card? Perhaps I am behind the times with a Zotac card and no EC support so needing HWInfo which I hate.
