it's christmas... All of the sudden without any cause my Laptop crashed to a blue screen. It displayed fat blue horizontal lines with black thin borders to seperate them.
I had to force restart with the power button and it doesn't give an image after the windows loading logo, just black now. I can get a screen in safe mode however.
edit: after re-installation of the 6990M drivers in safe mode I get a white screen instead of a black screen.

edit2: I put it on PEG in the bios it gave 8 beeps. Pretty sure that means the gpu is dead right?

Pretty much yes unfortunately. It seems like your Christmas gift this year would have to be a video card. Sorry about that Mkkillah

I just bought this 7970M:
Promotion Alienware AMD HD Dell 7970M 2GB GDDR5 for M15X M17x M18x Upgrade | eBay
and I'm going to follow this guide:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-mobility-7970-m17x-r3-illustrated-guide.html
I have some questions:
1: Does it hurt reusing thermal pads and if so which ones do I need?
2: Will I be able to use Enduro now that the drivers finally caught up? -

Ha, this is a first for me. I've heard of people doing this, but never believed it actually worked. The question is: For how long? I doubt you can just keep tossing it in the oven, lol.
Good luck, though.
