    Hello all

I recently installed the new 10.8 mobility drivers for my 17x-R2 and every time i start playing a movie in any of my video playing programs, e.g VLC or windows player, they just start with no picture, the sound plays but not picture. The only thing i can do to get it to work is to open CCC and click on the Adjust video setting then tick the Use Application settings off then tick it back on, if i Apply or close CCC then the video goes blank again.

Can anyone help me or should i uninstall the drivers and go to an earlier one?

That's not 10.8 then if it says .692, that's the old dell driver, to install the mobility driver 10.8 you need to do the workaround method described all over the net for catalyst, if you got it from amd's site.

But i would first recommend the dell beta driver BatBoy gave you a link for, and see how those perform.

Suggest you post 3 more times (quality posts of course) - once you hit 5 posts after the member DB is updated you will have the ability to PM. PM Brian and request the VBIOS. Follow the steps outlined in his post and update to the 8.763 driver along with the VBIOS.

Be sure to look over the linked thread - if there is anything you do not understand, ask questions in the thread.

Note: I believe you can update the driver itself however I believe the best results have been seen with both the driver and the VBIOS. Ask questions though - do not attempt anything until you have a full understanding of the process.

Closing this thread - please continue over at the linked thread.

Once you are updated, you shouldn't have any further issues. reports seem to indicate this is the FTW driver :)
