    M17x-R1:
Today I tried to use Speaker Fill but it was not working really well, the 2 rear speakers barely produced sound and no bass at all from the sub-woofer. Does anyone know a way to fully enable virtual 5.1 surround sound from stereo sources? (I can play stereo music with JetAudio and it produces 5.1 sound just fine, but I want to play Stepmania or watch videos on Youtube with surround sound & bass too).

M17x R1's speakers are limited when it comes to low frecuency (bass sound) that is why you are not gonna get any subwoofer emulator to work well in R1.

Sorry, I was not clear enough. I was not talking about the 2 built-in speakers on the M17x-R1 but an external 5.1 sound system. The 5.1 system is connected to the laptop through 3 cables (green, yellow, black jacks). I can play games, bluray, movies with 5.1 sound just fine but not for Stepmania or older games (and flash player too) that don't support 5.1 sound.

    Thank you for replying.
That was what I did, enabling Speaker Fill, but the result was not good, no bass + rear speakers barely produced sound.

There is no another solution. You can use ffdshow to get 5.1 with your mp3, and movie files. But games I don't think so.
