Well, I finished Installing win7 on a new 128GB SSD HDD from Twinmos Combo SSD 2.5" which have read speeds of 170mb/sec and write speeds of 100mb/sec.

The Install is fresh, I had 2 500GB 7,200RPM WD scorpio black HDD in RAID-0 setup, was giving me a 5.9 on WEI. Now I installed this SSD and it still gives me a 5.9 on WEI, how can I get it higher?

I removed both HDD and slid the SSD on alone in slot 0 while slot one is empty. Booted up the laptop and inserted in the DVD for the fresh install, all went smooth. Done with it then got the resource DVD in, Installed most of the drivers. rertarted the laptop then done the assessment for WEI and got 5.9 and graphics 6.0. I looked up on how to Improve the SSD performance rating, done the tweaks restarted got my graphics to 7.1 (before fresh Install they were 7.2) but my SSD still gives me 5.9.

I used crystal mark, read was 154 and write 82.....now I know this Twinmos SSD is a value series, I noticed the fast reboot time on it compared to the HDDs, but why my WEI haven't gone up?

Do I need to configure something in the BIOS? I didn't touch them at all.

    Thank you.

don't worry about it, it will fix itself. wei is generally glitchy. just as long as your ssd is up to speed then it fine. wei should fix itself after a reboot or 2.

Your 154 read and 84 write seems extremely slow for a SSD. :(

Regular (Desktop) 7200 RPM HDDs get 120 read and 119 write on crystal mark.

that happened to me too on an intel x25-m g2, had a score of 5.x... the score improved to a 7.x after installing the Intel SSD Toolbox.

Sequential speeds aren't that useful in determining speed and more of a marketing tool than anything else. You should post up your entire CDM result and see if any others have the same results. Either way, if you're boot times are good, then your random speeds are probably fine (and easily an order of magnitude higher than any HDD). As stated, don't worry about WEI, it's also pretty useless in determining how good your SSD is.

You need to set the BIOS to AHCI (from RAID), and this is important for SSDs.
Last, but certainly not least xD you need to do a fresh install YET AGAIN, because of the BIOS change.

Well nothing changed, still on 5.9 after a re-format with AHCI and updating drivers.

I think this Twinmos SSD (Value series) is not good for scores but I can notice a gain in performance, boot time is less and laptop seems respnosive.

The transfer rate is not that good, I think this is a common thing with R2s is it? Or I just bought a piece of crap?

Well, you get what you pay for, cost me 220$. Next time I will get either their performance series of an Intel one which is way more costly, you live and learn.

I got my crucial M4 for 185 (from B&H) with transfer cable. I agree you won't see SATA III speeds, but crucial M4 is cheaper and better than what you bought...at least benchmark wise.

The op is an R2 owner with SATA II speeds.

You need to dload the new intel rst software. I had to change the SSD to the 2nd bay because the 1st bay wasn't capable of handling Sata III speeds. I am not sure about the R2 :(.

I was gonna say that too in my post earlier, but he has a r2, not r3 like us.
I'm sorry the BIOS change wasn't effective... now all you can do is make sure you have the latest drivers (Chipset I think, AND SSD firmware update).
Even if your SSD is a slow one, (Mine is) you should see better than 5.9 on WEI... 5.9 is for 7200RPM.

Inap is correct. It takes awhile for WEI to recognize and reflect the speed of a newly installed SSD. It will cure itself in due course. If you can't wait, go to c:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore and delete all files in the folder. Then run WEI again.

    Not true at all.

There is no reason to reinstall. You just need to change the driver and a key in the registry to change from RAID to AHCI and back.

This SSD you bought is probably crap. Go to a command prompt and type 'winsat disk' and post you results:
