    Hi guys,

I'm trying to get Wake on LAN up and running on my M17x-R2 but am running into trouble getting it to wake from hibernation.

I can get it to wake properly when it's suspended but it doesn't do anything when I try to wake it up from a hibernated state - is this even supported on an M17x-R2? I've done a fair bit of googling but can't find any real info on what Alienware notebooks support.

I normally hibernate my machine when I'm finished using it but it would be great if I could get it to wake up remotely to access some of the media stored on it.

    Thanks in advance!

Isn't that something the BIOS + OS control?
I'd look more generally for wake on LAN and hibernate, AW might not have anything to do with it.
    Just a hunch...

From what I can figure out, pretty much everything supports WoL these days - how much it supports it depends on the BIOS and hardware. It is possible for some devices to wake up from suspend, hibernate and even complete power off states.

I couldn't find any mention of WoL in the M17x BIOS but I did find a few options in the network adapter settings within Windows. I turned them all on but it doesn't seem to wake up from hibernate or power off states so I can only assume the M17x doesn't support waking from these modes.

Has anyone had any sucess with this in the past? Hopefully there is another setting buried somewhere that I haven't found yet...
