I am sure that I have seen something to this effect before, but have been unable to find one myself.

I am about to buy a i7 920xm from "extremeprocessor" on ebay for $320 and toss that bad boy in my m17x r2, and would like a more detailed guide then that provided in the lovely service manual AW ships with this basically awesome laptop. Its not that I am actually very worried about doing the switch, more that I like to go into a job like this OVER prepared!

Any Ideas? Btw, if anyone knows of someplace RELIABLE to get the processor for less then $ 320, feel free to post that as well.

Pretty straight forward and easy if IIRC. I repasted mine when I had it, and seems it was easy to get to. Just time consuming. I did This tutorial for the LCD display, but it will get you into the system where you can acces the CPU. And the actual service manual for AW is very comprehensive as far as dissasembly and service goes. Not sure if you mean that one or the user manual. Service manual is HERE
