    Afternoon All (UK Anyway)

I bought a M17 R4 before XMAS its a lovely machine and has been no problem. When I ordered the laptop I only bought a year as I thought id extend it later on.

I've contacted Dell and asked for a quote, I was wondering if It can be any cheaper:

    1 year - £165

    2 year - £330

    3 year - £360.90 - Special offer.

    Matt

Warranties usually can't get discounts. IT's a great thing to have it covered because any part that fails after the warranty is over, is gonna be expensive since the machine is a high quality item.

Honestly I don't find those prices that bad, they seem pretty close to what you would see on a new system.

Those are decent prices. I'd take the 3 year warranty, for sure. They wanted me to pay $1080 for 3 years, but for a newer system.

There's a good chance that something will go wrong with your system within three years - it just happens. So, it's best to have that warranty.

I did the same when I bought my AW17 in July and rang Dell roughly a month ago to purchase 3yr warranty. They started off with the crazy price of £560 but after a quick "no chance" they lowered it to £320.40 when I told them I didn't want to spend more than £300. Its worth trying your luck, they clearly have the margin to play with

I was able to bargain with the warranty pricing as the price quoted on Dell's support site and what I paid was significantly different and I got a Dell gift card too. That does require you to call and bargain.

And yes IMO, it's always worth extending the warranty on any high end machine, high end parts means high end repairs if it dies, and high end 100W GPU's tend to go kaput fast if you game pretty hard. Nothing like spending 40-50% of the laptop's value on replacing 1 part on an expensive brand like Alienware. That and you get Dell's fantastic support in the US, I can't say the same for the UK where you are located.

Take the three-year warranty. They say you can't put a price on peace of mind, but you most certainly can, and that's a good one.

Sometimes the sales department is able to do exceptions :p
At least we can't on our side (tech support). :p but you can try as Tsunade_Hime and try to lower down the price a bit :)
