Hey fellas, pardon the laziness but I have a new 2 month old daughter and finals next week so I don't have much time to research this. I just purchased a fully decked out m17x-R2 that retails at $4900. Tomorrow it will be delivered by FedEx and I'm quite excited to tool around with it since I haven't had a gaming laptop in almost 4 years!
My question is whether or not I can upgrade a warranty for this thing since it's so expensive, requires more technical care than I can do (all I fix are desktops), and made by someone other than me so I have no clue as to the quality of every single component. If I can't do this then are there other options to ensure proper function? Do I need to do anything to transfer this laptop to my name?
Thanks again for any replies and pardoning my question(s) that could be answered with some searching. <3 Great forum too btw! It was one of the reasons I chose this laptop to purchase after shopping around for 3 weeks.

How about home content insurance. I think their cheaper and you get all your other toys covered as well.

Welcome to the forum..would have been cheaper to have bought the warranty same time as the unit.
I just bought a 3 year extended warranty with 3 year complete care for 789.00 call and see if you can get them down some. Also Calingasan has a good idea my son did that on his apt insurance much cheaper.

I should have clarified that I bought this on ebay (I'm using it now and it's f***ing AMAZING!). The seller said it was 3 months old but it seriously was never used. Every component from the case to the mouse had all the original bags around it with the factory tape (you can tell) that had never been opened. There isn't one fingerprint or wear mark anywhere near the keyboard or touchpad which after using for a few minutes I can see my own marks and see it is impossible to clean it back to this condition... so I'm a touch worried since I got a $5k laptop for $2.5k. Checked the hardware as soon as I got it and it's exactly what I typed in my profile and insanely fast.
Good call Calingasan I am insuring it through my property/auto company but was still curious about service which I'm not sure how/if they'll cover that. I am completely shocked at how heavy this beast is... it weighs 3/4 what my tower PC weighs lmao.
