Every so often, after putting my system to sleep, or simply restarting it, I have no use of several keys on my Alienware M17x R4 Keyboard... As well as, when this occurs my Recon 3Di Internal Sound Card also goes out. Is there anything I can do? Or can a dell representative assist me. I think I am in need of a motherboard replacement. But I called the support line and they informed me that I need to do a power drain, as well as update BIOS to A12. The change-log to A12 does not state anything to my issues and I'm quite disgusted with waiting 35 Min for a tech to answer that the only response I got was to update BIOS. I would really like to just have the machine sent in for a keyboard and motherboard replacement. (But I think just the latter needs to be replaced). I am always disgusted with Alenware's level of support. Oh well that's what I get for loving the performance. Anyway please help!

The latest BIOS contains a previous fix that we released for the sound issue. About the keyboard issue, does it also happen with an external one?
Try the latest BIOS for the audio card issue, if that does not help I will help you out myself with the motherboard replacement.

I finally got a motherboard and keyboard replacement, everything is tip top now! Thanks for the reply though. The reason I could not reply back was the computer was actually at the depot.

    Cool, good to hear.

One thing to remember when dealing with support, that have a list of things to try before replacing parts. You may be convinced it's all rubbish and nothing to do with the problem. You may have already tried things they ask. Just remain calm, go through the steps they ask (and a roll back to factory is very annoying!) and they will get to the result you may well already know.

Just time consuming and frustrating, but they have always got there in the end for me, and I spent 10 years in PC/Network support ;)

    Onwards to gaming for you...
